GENOME
The Genome Chair is an exploration of how products can be grown rather than designed, shaped through nature inspired algorithms that respond to the conditions they are placed within.
The chair is entirely generated through an algorithm based on the structural logic of bird bones, which evolve in response to the forces acting upon them. This applies both to their overall form and their internal structure. Bird bones are hollow, a strategy that increases structural efficiency by maximizing strength and stiffness while minimizing weight through a higher moment of inertia.
The core idea is that by using nature inspired algorithms, products can be generated specifically for the environments and forces they are meant to engage with. Rather than imposing form, the design emerges as a direct response to its context.
